A Word of Welcome from the Head of the District Authority for the District of Greiz
for the 28th International Ladies' Tour of Thüringen
Dear Friends of Cycling,
Valued Ladies and Gentlemen:
Let me extend a warm welcome to all participants and guests, whether from around the corner or from abroad, to the cyclists and the spectators that will come on the occasion of the 28th International Ladies' Tour of Thüringen. It is pleasure for me to appear again as the Patron for this very special sports event.
It is valuing this stage race very much that it has crossed Thüringen's borders for some time now. Sport is a way to bring people together, in a very special way for this event.
Germany's most important stage race for the elite women is a rendez-vous for many domestic and teams from abroad, and a great many of them take the “Rundfahrt” to be an excellent preparation for other highlights to come in the season held by the world cycling body UCI.
As a few may not know, the “Thüringen-Rundfahrt” for the elite ladies was born at Greiz and its district. Many friends of the sport in our area are looking forward to this international cycling event, thereby bringing interest, excitement, and support to women's cycling.
It is a highly attractive events for people in the region and visiting tourists, shows that our region has much to offer, and proves that commitment pays off in the end.
Let me thank sincerely all the sponsors, supporters, the organizing team, and many, many volunteers in Vera Hohlfeld's team, without whose unyielding commitment it would simply be impossible to carry out this high-end event.
I wish the 28th International Ladies' Tour of Thüringen luck and success on the roads, the visitors races full of suspense, and all guests a memorable stay in our beautiful region.
